Are you using RSS?

If you read a lot of news or blogs, you need RSS software on your desktop, laptop and PDAs. RSS stands for "really simple syndication" or "rich site syndication". Syndication means to publish a list of hyperlinked headlines to your site that are written in a standardized format that can be captured by one of a number of programs to display on your screen. RSS lets you keep up with the headlines of a news or blog site, without having to surf to that site.

Here's a great resource for RSS and its sisters (like XML and Atom). There are many good stand-alone RSS readers, such as Newsgator and Feedburner. I use a program called desktopsidebar.com, which is a desktop application with an RSS headline-grabbing built-in.
